While the sophomores were taking their OGT tests, the Shelby High School freshmen had the opportunity to hear about a wide variety of careers from many different community members. Each speaker told about their occupation, what skills were necessary for that job and answered questions from the students.
We were pleased to bring in people from many different careers. The students also created an account on the Ohio Means Jobs website, which will be used throughout high school to help students identify possible career. This is just another example of the wonderful support that the Shelby Community gives to our school district.
Thanks to the following people for spending time with us: Tina Wilson, Directions Credit Union; Kevin Noel, business careers; Natalie Lantz and Rochelle Zuercher, Lantz Star Graphics; Karen Swank, APEX Academy; Shelia Shade, nursing; Mike Lantz, Cooper Enterprises; Brian Finnegan and Zach Gwirtz - Shelby Fire Department; Neil McKown, attorney; Ray Lenczweski, engineer
Dominic Irwin, Physical Therapy; Dr. Adam Bihl, physician; Heather Dennis, dog trainer; Doug Castle, Youngstown State University; Roylene Barton, speech therapy; Bob Turner and Jake Penwell, Turner Funeral Home; Dave Walsh and Mark Friebel, ArcelorMittal; Paul Zehner, Shelby Police Department; Jim Sorenson, Ohio Means Jobs.
